First Day

[Kayla]

Hayley got her bags out of the trunk of her dad's car. Without a goodbye, or even I hate you, he drove away. She rolled her eyes and sighed. He was finally gone. He left, and now she was here at the school called Dragon Academy. She had been waiting for this day ever since she got the letter. She smirked to herself and picked up her bags. They weren't loaded, so they weren't heavy to carry or anything.

When she walked through the doors, she was expecting a school with regular floors, plain walls, and just lights. But when she walked into the school, she was aw struck. The floor was carpeted red. The walls were wallpapered with an off-white color with little flower patterns on it. But what she couldn't keep her eyes off of the fountain in the middle.

She walked over to the fountain. It's base was normal, but instead of like having a bird or something along the lines of that spit water out, it was a golden dragon. She looked at the water. There were small coins thrown into it.

She shook her head, No matter where it is, people still believe in throwing coins into a fountain.

In the reflection of the water, she saw the lighting. She looked up and saw a crystallized chandelier above it. It was kind of big, but the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She smiled to herself. She liked the school all ready. It had class. It was nicely decorated, the students looked friendly, and all the decorations were amazing. She would love it here.

Lillian's stride was full of purpose as she walked toward a red haired girl. She had seen the girl lift her bags out of a car and come in. Of course, Lillian knew everyone and everything, so she new that this was the new girl, Hayley. Lillian walked to the fountain, where the girl was staring in awe at the water. The other students waved over at Lillian and bowed slightly, for respect. She waved back, happy. A new student!

Lillian stopped in front of the new girl. The new girl looked up, and saw the seriousness of the headmistresses' eyes.

She spoke, "The new girl, Hayley Wright?" She stuck out her hand, her black stiff jacket rustled as she moved. The blouse underneath rippled, and her skirt also did so as she moved her legs forward a big.

Lillian winced as her feet took a step; she had a pain in her ankle. Nonetheless, Lillian did not show the pain on her face. She wanted to see and observe this girl, and see if she was worthy of Dragon Academy.

"I am the headmistress, Lillian Blackwater. I am pleased to make your acquaintance." Lillian's voice was filled with pain. She wondered if the new girl noticed. Lillian had been doing this act for years, seeing if the new students would pick up on different things.

[Kayla]

This woman's voice sounded strained. Maybe she was just tired of doing the 'goody' act for all these years.

Hayley's pigtails were brushed aside by her. Her blue top was unbuttoned so it showed her white tank top underneath. Her jean shorts went to her knees, only showing her bottom half of her legs.

She finally decided to answer the woman named Lilian Blackwater, "Yes. I am Hayley. Nice to meet you also." She didn't try to sound proper, but it just came out. She rolled her eyes to herself, wondering why she even bothered not to sound proper.

"So," she started up again, "Who will I be sharing a room with?" She wondered that question a lot in the car. She wondered what she would be like. If she would be nice or mean. Smart or an idiot. What kind of powers would she have, most of all.

Mist was walking through the halls looking for her mom. After a little bit she finnaly found her, but then she saw someone new. She was positive she was new because Mist knew everyone and everything that went on in this school because her mom was the headmistress. Mist examined the girl she had nice red hair that went down to her shoulders,blue eyes, and a normal height.

Mist stopped as soon as she saw her. She began to wonder if this was Hayley Wright. Mist knew that there would be a new student at Dragon Academy soon, Hayley Wright so it only made sense that this was her. Before thinking she looked around and saw the normal busy hallways.Then she took a deep breath and walked forward.

Will looked out the window of the top floor of Dragon Academy. He noticed that the new students were starting to file in, so he decided to take a quick peek. He strode down the stairwells of the immense building, and approached the entrance. There, Will saw a red-haired girl, the head mistress, and Mist. Oh great, Mist jsut happens to be here. Will though to himself sarcastically. He noticed that Miss Blackwater was already in a conversation with the red-headed girl, so Will made no comment.

Quietly, he advanced toward the three people, who were somewhat near eachother, and eavesdropped on the conversation going on. Will learned that the red-headed girl was named Hayley Wright, and that she was indeed, new to the school. When Miss Blackwater did her little fake act, Will smirked, since he knew that Hayley would notice her act. When Hayley asked if she was going to share a room, Will rolled his eyes. All of the new students asked that, or other stupid questions.

Will examined Hayley to try to determine her personality. She seemed okay, but not exactly the nerdy-type. No longer intersted, Will shut the conversation out of his mind, and started to walk away. Another boring day it seems. Will thought to himself as he walked away from the three woman.

Lillian coughed. "Actually, the dorms are pretty large, and the rooms small, so you'll have your own room." Lillian, exhausted, sighed. She was tired of the kids asking stupid questions when they came in. "OKay, rules. No bullying, no going into the opposite gender's dorm after curfew, curfew is 11, don't go into restricted areas, don't use your powers to get something, no night swimming, no skipping class." Lillian had repeated these rules so many times that she ended up cutting off words to save her tongue from dying.

"Anyways..." She catches sight of her daughter, Mist. "This is my daughter Mist. Mist is going to help you adjust to this school and give you tours and help you find your classes. Why don't we start by heading to the dorms? On the way, Hayley, would you talk about your abilities and how you have heard of this school?"

[barnbrat]

“Well here we are, this is it Stardust." Constance said in an anxious tone. Her family waved and said 'good-bye' and 'I love you' and her brother, who had gone with them, said 'hope you have a good time.' Constance had sort of been dreading and waiting this day. She didn’t like to be the new girl, but it was the begging of the school year, she wouldn’t be the only new student. She waved back her parents and said, "I love you to, I will. Thanks Sam."

Unlike some of the students here, Constance had loving and very rich parents. Her parents thought that Dragon Academy would be a great experience for Constance to meet more people like her. She already had Heather and Kayla, who also had powers, but her parents disagreed, as usual, that she need more that just two friends.

Constance picked up her bags and had a plant that she had brought along carried her heavy trunk. Constance doesn’t pack light. She packed most of her clothes and a lot of her personal items, like her laptop, drawing utensils, and some other things like pictures and so on. She opened up the grand doors to the school and walked in. "come on Stardust." Constance urged Stardust to hurry up, and she did. The very large 2year old Husky hurried in and sat next to her owner.
"Wow, this place is huge. I didn’t expect it to look like this, I expected a regular school. But man how am I going to find my way around?" Constance was awed. She couldn’t believe her eyes. "I think we go over there to the office to get our dorm assignments." she picked up her bags and motioned for Stardust to follow her and the plant.

"Um excuse me is this where we get our assignments?" she asked. It was more of a rhetorical question because no body was in the office.

[Kayla]

She smiled to herself. She got her own room. "Thank you."

She asked her if she would like to talk about her abilities. Her eyes widened. She didn't smile, but didn't frown. She looked as if she had just eaten something plain. "Well," she started, "do I really have to? I found out about the school by a letter that was sent to me."

She tried to stay away from the subject of her powers. She didn't like to discuss her powers. "I know the rules. I read them in a pamphlet before I arrived."

She remembered the part about the off-limit room. She wondered what was held in it, but she wouldn't get to find out. "Um, I know it's a secret, but, what's in the off-limit room? I'm very curious. It seems that all the other rooms are opened except that one room."

Mist heard her mom saying her name and she started to walk forward. As she walked forward she saw Will looking at her and she began to blush, but caught herself. As soon as he started to walk away Mist came back to reality. She heard her mom telling her to escort the assumed Hayley to her room. Once again she walked forward and stopped at the two people.

Mist put out her hand toward Hayley. Then she heard Hayley complain about something for a few seconds to her mom. As soon as she finished her whining Mist realized she looked like an idiot with her hand still held up, so she put it down. Mist blushed and then felt William move in her left pocket jittery. Dumbly Mist said, "We better get to your room." Then she blushed again as William poked his head out of her pocket curiously, and she saw Hayley stare at her confused.

Will continued his way away from the group. He smiled as he overheard the conversation; Miss Blackwater was now stating all of the rules, and Will had heard her say the same things over and over again. She should really find a secretary or soemthing to tell those stupid rules. Will thought to himself mischieviously. Then, Will continued to smile when Miss Blackwater asked the same questions to new students; What are your powers and how did you find out about the academy? Hayley answered Miss Blackwater's questions quite well, and she even asked if she had to tell her powers or power. When Hayley asked about an off-limit room, Will almost chuckled. In his head he asnwered that question; yes, there was an off-limit room.

Will continued walking, almost at the stairway, when he felt Mist's gaze on him. He was immobilized for a millsecond, but he regained control of his body. He heard Miss Blackwater assign Mist the duty to show Hayley around. Will smirked at the fact, since Mist was usually the one assigned to that job. Then, Will noticed that Mist had not made movement since she set eyes on Will, so Will began to get nervous. To his relief, though, Mist said to Hayley they should get to Haylet's room. Will decided to ask Miss Blackwater more about the student, or if any others were coming, so he turned around, and wordlessly passed the two girls. "Miss Blackwater, may I speak with you?" Will siad quietly when he was about a foot away from her.

Lillian sighed. "Okay, if you insist." Lillian already knew that Hayley was a mage; she just wondered on how Hayley found out that she had that ability. "Anyways, that room that is off-limits? There's a reason why it's off-limits. And if it wasn't, I could tell you what's in it. But it is."

Mist and Hayley walked away, headed toward Hayley's room, holding her bags. Will comes up and asks her if he could ask a question. Lillian nods, but confusion dances across her face. "Hold on a minute..."

She reaches into the folder that she had been holding the whole time. "I believe there is a new kid...Constance, I believed. She was scheduled to come in tomorrow, but I think that is her right there. She points to a girl with a husky next to her. Clearly, this girl was new, as she had awe in her eyes as Hayley had. "And I heard about her husky, Stardust." Lillian sees her head for the office. "C'mon, Will, we'll go and meet with her. Ask me your question as we go." They take off with a fast stride.

When Will asked for Miss Blackwaters time, she told him to hold on. Then, as she rumaged through the folder she held, she started talking once more. Miss Blackwater stated that there was another student coming tommorrow, but she was here today. That answered one of my questions. Will thought to himself. Miss Blackwater said that the new girl's name was Constance, and she showed him a picture of Constance.

The picture showed Constance with a burly husky. Miss Blackwater explained that the husky's name was Stardust, and Will just nodded silently. When Miss Blackwater suggested that they were to go and meet Constance, Will groaned within himself. If Miss Blackwater wasn't the headmistress, Will would have immediately ignore her, but sadly, Miss Blackwater was. Then, Miss Blackwater started in a fast stride, and Will followed silently.

As the walked through Dragon Academy, Will just said bluntly, "You already answered my question. It was whether or not any more new students would come here." Will continued walking behind Miss Blackwater, dreading to go and meet Constance. Besides, Will was always bad at introductions.

Mist walked forward and saw Will, again. She felt her cheeks get hot so she took out a pocket mirror only to confirm her thoughts, she was blushing a lot. Mist did have feelings for Will, but she had never told him because she didn't think he thought of her that way. Swiftly she put her mirror away and did her best to hide her cheeks 'only one way' she thought. So she put the black pastel scarf she was wearing around her neck and covered her mouth.

She chuckled to herself 'I must look like an idiot.' Looking back at Will he seemed to have gone to her mom. Mist tried her best to listen in, but William moved inside her pocket and tickled her. Regrettably she laughed REALLY loud and to make matters worse she accidentally undid the scarf. So basically it sounded as if she was going crazy. 'crap.' Not even thinking to look back at Hayley.

Constance had seen a couple of students walk around and talk. Constance wondered what to do now; she just started to look around the lobby. She looked up and saw the huge chandelier. She was awed. Constance had never seen anything like it. It looked like millions of diamonds.
"That’s really beautiful isn’t it Stardust? I wish we had one at home. So where do you think we need to go now?" Constance said to Stardust. Stardust just looked up at her and had that look like 'I don’t know, I’m just the dog.'

Constance noticed a lady with black hair talk with two other girls, something about a room. But Constance was distracted again by the large fountain in the middle of the lobby. When Stardust started to whine Constance looked up to see that the black haired lady and a cute silver haired boy was walking over towards her. Constance noticed that the black haired lady looked quite young and beautiful. On the other hand the boy was like an angle; his red eyes went perfectly with his silver hair. He looked to be about 17 or 18. Constance guessed the lady to be about 23.

Constance thought that she must look like an outsider because she was wearing grass stained jeans from playing around with Kayla and Heather, a tank top that was grey with black lace on it with an unbuttoned dark blue colored shirt with rolled up sleeves that was a little too small for her over it. She also had on her riding boots and a belt buckle with a bucking horse on it, finally her reddish-brown hair thrown up in a messy bun with her bangs hanging out. Constance had just dressed like she would for a day at her school, but she felt that she was underdressed, one the lady was very nice looking, two the school looked like an expensive prep school, three she looked like a country hick. Stardust nudged Constance's leg getting her attention because the lady and the boy where nearly at where Constance stood.

“Hello, I’m Constance Jones. Do you know where I might find the headmistress? I’m kind of lost.” Constance said in a quite, shy tone hopping she didn’t sound like a complete idiot.

As Will continued tagging behind Miss Blackwater, he heard Mist's loud, cheerful laughter. To himself, Will assumed that the source of Mist's laughter was her rat, William. Names can be so confusing. Will thought to himself, for he woul sometimes be confused who mist is recalling to when she's talking.

Later, Will came within eyesight with the other new student Constance. Will knew right away that Constance was examining the headmistress and himself, so Will allowed her to go through his outside appearance. As Miss Blackwater and Will got closer to the new student, Will saw that she wasn't exactly dressed nicely. Her clothes looked worn as if she had been playing outside, and they were quite casual. She must have been in a hurry. Will noted to himself.

Then, Will put his attention on Constance's husky, Stardust. Stardust was a medium-sized dog, not that large, but large enough, and Will wondered where Constance will put Stardust during classes. Will noticed that Constance was concentrating on the two people who were approaching very hard, until Will saw Stardust nudge Constance's leg.Will smiled for the slightest second when Constance was brought back into flowing time, but the smile disappeared quickly. Constance introduced herself, and asked for the head mistress.

Will almost chuckled at te thought she was lost. She'll have a hard time getting to her class.Will thought to himself happily, and he decided he should tell the girl about her mistake. "We already know you're name Constance, and by the way, the headmistress is the woman beside me." Will said with a slight tone of tease in his voice as he motioned toward Miss Blackwater.
